Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Detangler – Extra Moisture ~ Product Review!

w/ Curls, Coils & Kinks

I have a fresh straight off the press product review from a product line I review and use quite often… Shea Moisture! This product was given to me at a natural hair event and I was beyond elated to FINALLY try this detangler I have heard so much about. I must admit the reviews on this detangler have been all over the place… as some love it and some say leave it on the shelf! The best thing to help me decide if this product would work for me is to frankly try it. Being that we are in the winter months extra moisture is always needed and who doesn’t need a detangle boost?! This review as always is based upon results with my 3c/4a tight curly coils and what may work for me may or may not work for you – so let me best help you decide if this is a product worth you trying.

So, as always you want some back ground information on this product right? Although this detangler was given to me after researching some I didn’t find it to be too expensive as it retails for about $11.99. Another plus about Shea Moisture products are they are usually very easy to find and are sold at most beauty stores. This product is packaged in a tall 8 fl. oz bottle & conveniently is sulfate & color safe. As a natural who has hair color in her hair I always look for color safe products when trying to decide if I want to purchase a product or not. Natural hair is a gift however if you don’t take care of it no one else will. I know every natural is understandably concerned with ingredients as we don’t really need anything helping our already naturally parched curls, coils and kinks. This detangler contains many healing and strengthening ingredients like Shea Butter, Sea Kelp & Argan Oil just to name a few. What does this product claim to do for your hair? Well, this product claims it’s a lightweight detangler that conditions, smoothes dry damaged hair with natural botanicals while removing knots and tangles. So if you desire your hair to be restored, shiny and manageable then they claim this is for you! Was it for me – let’s see?!

Wash day is here! Haha – yes I get excited about my wash day… I don’t want dirty hair & scalp! The directions state you are to shampoo then apply from root to ends while combing the product through and do not rinse this out. I normally co-wash, detangle w/conditioner then rinse out, deep condition then rinse out and then add my leave in for my final step. However since I prefer to detangle with my conditioner and you can’t rinse this product out… I decided the product would be best utilized as my leave in. I grab the bottle as it was time for me to apply the detangler. If you have ever used any product from the SM Raw Shea Butter Line then you are already accustomed to this smell as it’s the same as all the other products from this line – smells like raw shea butter tropical style. I have always loved this smell as it is very light and clean. I squeezed some of the product out onto my palms and was greeted with a slippery texture that was light yet paste like and very translucent in color. I loved so far what I was feeling and seeing. When I began to apply the detangler all over this product began to separate and clump my curls beautifully. This product had enough slip to effectively detangle and smooth my fickle curls. I love the way this product melted into each strand of my hair and just didn’t sit on top my hair. Wow – I think I am already impressed. I made sure that I coated my hair with enough product to effectively work properly and to my surprise I only ended up using very little as this product will last me a long time. Was this enough to tickle my fancy and add to my rotation?!

FINAL THOUGHTS: I then proceeded to section off my hair get out of the shower and finish the styling phase of my wash day. Wow- my results were fabulous! I was beyond surprised and my hair seemed to be taken by this detangler. Do you think I should keep this product? YES!! I will answer this for you. This product left my hair super soft, moisturized, tangle free, shiny, and gave my hair an extra bounce! I am sure you could utilize this product many ways but I think I have found a great alternative to my staple leave in. My hair feels so moisturized to the touch and strengthened all in one. If you are struggling with detangling your curls, coils and kinks then I would definitely recommend giving this product a try. This line is designed for naturals who struggle with dry & damaged hair and I can already tell with continued use this product will help my hair achieve the best results possible. Thank you to the team at Shea Moisture for yet another fabulous product that left my curls super defined and happy. If you are needing a break from your detangle woes then maybe this product may be of some great assistance to you. My goal is always to educate and learn from all my naturals – do you have a favorite detangle product or tool?? ♥

Thank you for such a wonderful article dear and from my side I want to say that i am using best detangler for hair from long and its really effective. It is an excellent moisturizer, helping you style your hair in different ways every day. It also works as a great leave-in hair treatment product for dry hair that needs extra moisture.
