Oyin Handmade Hair Dew Daily Quenching Hair Lotion ~ FIRST IMPRESSION ~ Product Review!

Calling All Naturals w/ Curls, Coils & Kinks

Guess what I got?! YES- the ever so popular gem (so most people say) Oyin Hair Dew! I remember during my transition days I would research for the top products for natural hair and this one always surfaced up as one of the favorites. I told you guys I would be venturing past my normal Shea Moisture and Hydratherma Naturals products to see what else is out there. Year after year this product continues to remain at the top so you know the Nancy Drew in me had to find out for myself how would this product play with my curls. I knew it would only be a matter of time before I got my hand on this product. I honestly don’t know why it has taken me so long to try this product; maybe it’s due to the fact I have had such success with all the other products I didn’t want to venture too far off from what I knew worked well for me. Well today is a great day to try something new! I am very excited not only to try this popular product with so many naturals but my first product by Oyin. I don’t know how I would feel if this product does not do anything for my hair as I expect the very best results. Did my expectations match up with my results?

Oyin Handmade company actually is one that is quite new to me. I have seen some of their  products in select Target stores and always wondered what they were all about. Highly rated and flying off the shelves later has definitely peeked my interest in this particular product to try. No one product will work for every natural but when you have a overall high success rate like the Hair Dew my chances look pretty good right about now. You can find this product at select Target stores and on their website (oyinhandmade.com) and curlmart.com. I personally purchased my bottle at the Curlmart website as they had a special running. This product comes in a 8.4 fl. oz. bottle for $13.99 however if you purchase this product from the Oyin website it comes in 3 different sizes of your choosing. This product is a daily quenching hair lotion that is lightweight that refreshes hair without buildup. Nourishing castor, olive, and coconut oils combine with aloe vera and pure water to form a non-greasy, creamy leave-in that’s light enough for everyday use. Which is important for me since I prefer to refresh my hair daily. This product can be used on naked hair or reinvigorate tired hair. A bonus ~ this product can be applied to dry, damp or wet hair. You also will not find no harsh ingredients in this bottle. Let’s get down to it!

As I stated earlier this product can serve many purposes and used different ways. I decided to try this product on two different days. I wanted to use it as a leave in on wash day and as a 2nd day hair lotion. So today is wash day! As I wrap up my first part of my wash day routine I began to get ready to apply the Hair Dew. As I open this bottle up… Oh my word! Umm – can we say yum! This product did NOT disappoint on smell factor. Fresh cookies for two coming up! (lol) Oyin Handmade – you guys did your thing when you designed that smell… fabulous! The texture is a light creamy moisturizing feel. Not too watery not too thick. This product easily melted into my hair strands despite it not having a lot slip. I wasn’t too disappointed about the lack of slip as I have already detangled my hair for the day and it didn’t affect me being able to work the product through effectively. This product did leave a light white coating as most of my products do but they dry clear. My hair felt really soft and extremely pliable. I was feeling some type of way after I finished styling my hair afterwards by adding oil and my styler. What way was that?

Wash Day w/ Hair Dew

FINAL THOUGHTS: GOOD! I was very impressed with this product. This hair lotion left my hair moisturized and made my curls stand straight at attention! My curls were soft, defined, shiny and ready to take on the world. I noticed a few things: after my hair dried my hair did shrink more than normal. I mean my hair always shrinks after it dries but I guess the moisture packed product got the best of my curls. Now, I don’t mind the extra shrinkage personally but thought I share if you do. Also I am sure you are wondering about the results on using this product as a hair lotion on my 2nd day hair. This product performed beautifully and held its own. My hair was left super soft and moisturized just like the product claimed and I experienced identical results as on my wash day. I did notice unlike my staple hair moisturizer this product didn’t leave my hair moisturized for days. Then again it is labeled as a daily hair lotion. I did notice on the ingredients section this product didn’t have Glycerin listed which is a BIG ingredient for me and my curls. So maybe that’s why my hair didn’t feel as moisturized the next day. Just thinking out loud. This product played well with my other products too which is a needed plus. Although I would say this daily lotion seemed to work better on my hair as a part of the layering LOC Method as oppose to using it alone. This product really did leave my very happy and I am so glad I tried it finally! I will start rotating between this moisturizer and my staple one to see any other additional benefits or changes with continued use. Thank you for letting me talk out loud on pen and paper and reading along with me. Have you experienced the Hair Dew sensation? As always thank you for flipping through the pages of my hair journey. Until the next page… chow! ♥
