Calling All Naturals w/ Curls, Coils & Kinks
BREAKING NEWS!! I have never been so eager to try a product like the Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker Styler! It’s been dripping all over social media and naturals rave about this product since the very beginning. Although word on the street is that this a newer formula – naturals still rate this product their #1 gel/jelly. Could it be so for me too? If you aren’t aware I have YET to try a gel where my curls want to work with and I have played around with several using various combinations always leaving my unsatisfied and wanting more. My fickle curls always want to fight gels and to be honest I was tempted to let her win, lol! I first tried the eco styler gel and although it works well for slicking down my curly edges it did NOT work for my wash n go’s as it dried out my hair and didn’t provide any additional benefits. Many gels later and some time to reflect on what actually works best for my hair I am ready to give it another go whether she is ready or not, lol! My goal is to find a gel that is moisturizing and defines my curls at the same time while providing many other benefits from nourishing ingredients. I also have another special treat as I will be reviewing the Fresh Curl Revitalizing Hair Smoother along with the CM as I heard the CM doesn’t play well with others. I sat my curls down and told her to behave and that she should get ready to experience the most talked about & highly rated gel! I just hope this is a successful experience for the both of us. My results may surprise you!
My success rate with Camille Rose Naturals has been stellar so far and I can’t wait to see my results as I step into unfamiliar territory: GELS! Honestly if gels aren’t for me then I am fine with that but I want to make sure before throwing in the towel. It only takes 1 time out of many tries to get it right… maybe today is that day! Here are some specs on the Curl Maker: The product retails @ Target for $22 for a 12 fl. oz. bottle with a pump… yes ladies that is no typo. I know what you are thinking; probably same thing I thought when I first saw that price… this product better wash, condition and style my hair, lol! Part of the reason why I have been on the fence is price + my hair’s past with gels. I did get this gel on sale at Target for $17 – you know how I do! The Curl Maker Curl Defining Jelly is curly girl friendly and made with only the best ingredients such as: Marshmallow & Agave Leaf Extract. This product was designed for girls with curls, coils and textures while defining your tresses without the crunch. If you are looking to eliminate frizz, moisture and define curls while hydrating, softening & strengthening your hair then look no further. It also states to pair with the Curl Love or Fresh Curl for extra moisture. This sounds like a perfect recipe for my staple wash n go! I can’t wait any longer can you?
Oh wait here are the specs on the Fresh Curl Revitalizing Smoother: This product retails for about $14 for a 8 fl. oz. tall bottle with a pump as my local Target did NOT carry this product; no worries I had a coupon + a current sale at curlmart.com and purchased it there. This product was formulated with truly only the best ingredients such as: Avocado & Castor Seed Oil made for all curl types and textures. This lightweight lotion will detangle, nourish, soften and revive the thickest (yes- that’s me), driest and lifeless curls. So basically this product is magic? LOL! This daily lotion will transform dull, lifeless hair into soft, shiny, smooth hair and it will restore cuticles and hair follicles for healthy hair growth. I have heard enough: it’s time to get this party started!
FRESH CURL: Today is the day! So let me first break it down how I will incorporate these two products into my wash day routine. As most of you know I follow the LOC Method for styling my hair. I will be using the Fresh Curl as my (L) and my (O) will remain the same and my (C) I will be using the Curl Maker Jelly as my styler. After adding in my DIY refresher spray while still in the shower I began to add the Fresh Curl. As soon as I pumped out some of the product ladies the smell is beautiful. I never thought a smell could be so beautiful (lol) but smells just like fresh fruit drizzled on top of some dessert that is baking in the oven. LOVE! The color of this product is similar to a light mint green and the texture is richly creamy like a light lotion. I applied this all over my head to soaking wet hair. I didn’t section my hair for this step; I just finger raked it all over my entire head. My hair felt super soft and moisturized and this product didn’t leave a white residue. This product being that it’s lightweight I added more than usual as it melted into my strands. I was able to lightly finger detangle with a breeze using this product focusing on even distribution. All done… next step!
CURL MAKER: I exit the shower and after adding the Fresh Curl clipped my hair into various sections. One thing I noticed after watching countless YT videos about this product was to apply on soaking wet hair as it even states that on the bottle. So I grabbed my spray bottle and CM and began to start on my first section. After applying my (O) and re-spraying my hair with my water DIY refresher I pump out the CM finding a nickel size amount of slime on my hand, lol! This product was very slippery and the slip factor was a 10. You could feel each and every oil in this product. The smell resembled citrus fruit of some kind and the texture was like a very slimy jelly mixed with oils. I was amazed at how effortlessly this product made styling my hair. Just not something you think of when you think of gel – at least from my experience. My hands just glided through my super thick hair with ease and little to not effort from me. This product was not sticky nor did it leave a big mess on my hands. Due to the easy application of this product it didn’t too take long for me to apply the CM to my entire head of hair. Did my hair behave & did we make a NEW friend? Did the CM live up to all the hype and worth that hefty price?
MY FINAL THOUGHTS ON CURL MAKER: Ladies, YESSSS!!! I can’t lie I was very skeptical. However, I ate my words TODAY! I thought now this CM doesn’t contain Glycerin so I don’t how this will turn out however since the Fresh Curl did contain Glycerin I think it was perfect paired match! This is one reason why I chose to pair the Curl Maker with the Fresh Curl vs. the Curl Love -glycerin. This is no doubt the best gel/jelly I have ever tried! I personally believe it is worth every penny and will last me a long time. They nailed it and sold me on the aspect that you can combine moisture & gel! I don’t know how they do it but please don’t ever change this formula. This product came through BIG on what it claimed it would do: my hair was left soft, shiny, super defined, banished frizz, moisturized and supple not to mention my curls were very happy! My hair seemed to dry faster too as I let it air dry as usual. Although my wash day results are always more limp and super shrunken due to my curls being moisture happy this gel gave my hair tons of movement on wash day! I did experience my normal amount of shrinkage however in some spots my hair was more elongated than usual. My hair was left soft in most spots and crunchy in a few spots where my heavy hands got the best of me. A little bit of this product goes a long way. I didn’t experience any flakes either.
The next day as I woke up my curls despite being smashed were STILL super defined! So if you are looking for a gel that is moisturizing and will leave your curls, coils & kinks defined for days I would highly suggest you try this gel! I absolutely loved my results and was blown away by this product… she (my hair) and I! I took some pictures however due to may hair growth my color is nearly gone & these products didn’t leave any residue so it’s hard to see the stellar definition this product gave my tresses in pictures so I took a few close ups as well. I hope I have inspired you to try until you strike gold. Just to think I was ready to throw in the towel NOW I have been inspired to try other gels or jelly stylers out there. I also plan to try this product with other moisturizers and my staple leave-in conditioner to see how well it plays with others for myself. What gel or jelly should I try next? Bravo Camille Rose Naturals & I will definitely be repurchasing this product although I have plenty left!
MY FINAL THOUGHTS ON FRESH CURL: I truly enjoyed this product as well as the smell is the best! I think this hair lotion smoothed out my curls while adding much needed moisture preparing it for the Curl Maker. This product did an excellent job at detangling, left my hair soft & shiny, smoothed my frizz, gave me plump juicy curls and nourished my curls back to life. I was highly impressed by this lightweight lotion especially when paired with the CM. I will have to also play around with this one to see how it works without using the CM but from a first impression stand point they have my vote! Although I received such great success today with this product I know as time goes on and with continued use my hair will continue to thrive even more!
Thank you Camille Rose Naturals as my curls aren’t thirsty anymore. Thank you to all of my journey followers for flipping through the pages of my journey until the next page… chow! ♥
